Steve Cass

Wisdom – Discovery of the Word

And it’s only the beginning…

Wisdom...An album whose roots trace back to the days when a twelve year-old named Steve Cass was given his first guitar from a loving grandmother. Just three weeks after he received the guitar he began playing on a regular basis at St. Augustine's church in his hometown of Des Moines, Ia, where he was born in 1958. Steve is a self-taught musician and continued to be actively involved throughout his youth in his community playing and singing for church services and functions, prayer meetings, retreat weekends, youth camps and weddings.

Even at that young age, when no divine message will distract a young lad from his earthly pursuits, music was making an impact. Dedication to Christ and to the people that make up the body directed Steve's young adulthood. He felt very blessed that at the age of 18 he was invited to join Followers of the Way, a Christian band that traveled and ministered to adults through original song and through workshops/retreats. During that time and in the following years, he was deeply involved in retreat weekends designed for high school seniors. The kids were able to get away from the bustle and learn more about who this Jesus was, and is, and Steve ministered not only with his guitar but with his own life experiences.

Cass has been involved in several "secular" solo, duet and trio situations and bands, most noticeably Ace Rival, a Rock and Roll show band that toured the Midwest from 1982-85. He quit professional music in 1985 and entered the world of electronics. His job led him to Phoenix in 1993.

…of another chapter in his musical novel

Through a family friend, Cass found a home at Friendship Community Church of Ahwatukee. This non-denominational church brought him back to his roots of inspirational music. Once the church learned of his musical talents he was asked to join the Sunday morning worship team. It was not long before he began writing and performing his own music.

Cass wants to fulfill Gods' calling. "I want to do that which He wants me to do with my life," he commented.

The reverently assembled song "UNDER THE SON" represents the singers' personal exploration into his artistic roots and his search for peaceful reflection. "I've done a lot of searching over the years (who hasn't) for the truth about my existence. After I began to study the Word and realize what the original blueprint was saying to me, the Peace that He promised came pouring in like a broken fire hydrant," he states in the WISDOM CD booklet.

Through the joys and losses of our lives, Steve Cass offers us the songs he hopes will connect with our truest feeling of love, and in the process, bring us closer to our spiritual being. "It’s when a person becomes aware of the need of having a personal relationship with Christ because they’ve listened to my music that I feel a sense of accomplishment. This is what God has put me on this earth to do", he says. He has been doing this by sharing his inspiration with local churches.
